For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved (John 3: 16 –17).  The Bible tells us that there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life, and no one can come to the Father except through Him.

The scripture tells us that we all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23) and that the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23). One must come to the realization that mankind in the fallen state remains separated from God forever because of sin. Ever since the fall of man, sin entered the world and has separated all mankind from God. In order to reconcile humanity back to Himself, God sent His only begotten Son Jesus Christ into the world to provide the way of salvation to save mankind from eternal death and separation.

Christ came into this world to set us free from the bondage of sin and death. Sin entered this world through Adam (the first man or the first human being) when he partook of the fruit of disobedience in the Garden of Eden and consequently, sin dispersed to the entire human race. The scripture tells us, “Just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men because all sinned (Romans 5:12).” “For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ (Romans 5:17).” Here we see how sin came into the world through one man (first Adam) and how death through sin has spread to all human beings because the wages or the payment of sin is death. And just as sin entered the world through one man Adam; in the same way, the gift of God’s righteousness also entered the world through the one Man, Jesus Christ (aka second or last Adam). Therefore, Jesus Christ is God’s gift of salvation freely made available for all mankind; and whoever chooses to believe in Him will inherit eternal life.

Now we must understand that it is by default that the entire human race stands before God as sinners for transgressing God’s divine Law. Mankind, therefore, are sinners both by nature and by choice – by nature because of the sin that came through Adam and by choice because of the sin we perpetuate. It is important to know, that in our sinful state, we could not have made amends to rid ourselves of sin by our own merits no matter how much we tried because we have all fallen short of the glory of God or that original order and standard of God. This leaves all humanity in an irremediable situation, all the while knowing that the end result of our sin is death and at the same time incurring the debt we owe God that we could never pay. Yet, according to God’s Justice and Law, it was indispensable that the payment for mankind's sin must be made. This righteous requirement of God had to be fulfilled, for unless the full payment for sin was made, there would be no way out for mankind from the penalty of eternal damnation.

In order for mankind to be saved, someone who is totally sinless had to make the payment for our sins, or else we could never be set free from the bondage of sin and death. This is why God who so loved the world sent His only begotten Son Jesus Christ to come into this world to fulfill the righteous requirement of God’s Law. The Lord Jesus Christ came to fulfill God’s plan of salvation for mankind. He is God incarnate who took upon Himself the form of man and entered into this world in order to pay the penalty for our sins so that we might be set free from the punishment of eternal death, and by  Him to inherit eternal life. Jesus Christ did this by dying a substitutionary death on the cross on behalf of each and every person in this world. He took our sins upon Himself and was crucified upon the cross where He suffered and died to pay the debt for our sins so that we might be set free from the enslavement of sin and death. Jesus Christ died for us and was buried in a tomb and on the third day, He was raised from the dead and He lives forevermore. And just as Christ was resurrected from the dead so too all those who believe in Him and put their faith and trust in Him will be resurrected (1 Corinthians 15:42) in the same manner to live with Him forever. Only Jesus Christ could do this for humanity because He alone was and is the sinless perfect Lamb of God who came to take away the sin of the world. Jesus Christ came to fulfill the Father’s will and He freely laid down His own life to redeem us, and all who choose to believe in Him will be saved and will not perish in their sins but will have everlasting life in Him and through Him. Death can no longer have victory over that person; though the person may die a physical death yet he/she will live forever. This is the power of God’s Salvation made manifest through Jesus Christ our Lord because of His great love, mercy, and grace for all humanity. Jesus Christ is God’s gift of eternal life freely available to all who might believe in Him. All one has to do, is accept this free gift of Salvation and be saved, and thereby be reconciled to God.

 How do I get saved?

You can come to Jesus just as you are – a simple step of faith is all you need to receive God’s salvation.

While there are no special rules or formulas on how to get saved. The scripture tells us, “That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation (Romans 10: 9 –10).” And "Whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved (Romans 10: 13).”

If you truly believe in your heart that the Lord Jesus Christ is your only means of salvation. And that He has paid the penalty for your sins when He died on the cross for you. And that He was crucified, buried, and on the third day was raised to life again and lives forevermore – you will be saved.

Now that you have come to the saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ and would like to accept Him as your personal Saviour and Lord – you may do so by praying to God in your own way or use the following exemplary prayer to help you in the process of receiving God’s salvation.

“Heavenly Father God, I thank you for extending your great love toward me by sending your only begotten Son into this world to pay the penalty for my sins. Lord Jesus, I believe in you and that you are the Son of God, I believe that you died on the cross for my sins, you were buried and on the third day, you rose again. I believe that you are God’s gift of salvation for me. And by faith, I humble myself in repentance before you and ask you to forgive me of all my sins. I now receive forgiveness for my sins through the power of the blood that you shed for me on the cross. Thank you for setting me free from the curse of eternal death and giving me eternal life in you. Lord Jesus, I now receive you as my personal Saviour and Lord. From this day onward I commit my life to follow you and live according to your word, your will, and your ways. I ask and pray this prayer in Jesus Name, Amen.”

If you truly meant this prayer in your heart before God, then you are saved. The Bible calls this act of faith – as being a born-again believer in Christ Jesus.

Congratulations! You are now a born-again child of God. The old things have passed away and you have become a new creation in Christ Jesus. The scripture tells us, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new (2 Corinthians 5: 17).”
